The first can be solved with a bit of know-how I'd be happy to pass on, but your screenshot doesn't look like that's the issue. The second would be solved by picking "respawn at the starting shelter" from the pause menu. (It's found under the red power button, where "quit to main menu" is found).
The core will require 2 quartz. (1 for unlock of planet and then 1 for unlock on the gate station terminal.) Quartz is easily found, or you can soil centrifuge it if you are super lazy. After swapping to creative mode a bunch of things become no longer available, like achievements, missions I guess. And a couple other minor stuff. Find a core anchor (purple spike) and jump onto it. You should stick to it after. Drill down from on the anchor and walk to the core. Btw, you only need to activate one glactic node, but it helps for late game to activate all of them
Is there a way to determine which resources are required to activate the core without out looking it up online? Obviously you can check the core, but is there a way prior to reaching the core?
