After reading a lot about OM617 engines on the net, it seems like the rear main seal is a relatively uncommon problem, but the oil filter housing gasket to the block is a common problem, and it will soak the left rear of the engine and then the transmission. The Iron 5 is hard to beat in durability and is proven to be capable of 300 - 500k miles. :thumbsup: The newer 606 is better in performance and requires less maintenance (no need to adjust valves).
