JUMPS FOR EVERYONE! There aren't enough "things" involved in the grand company system to really justify additional ranks. Until they added the material crate thingies here in Endwalker, there wasn't even any good reason to advance to the captain rank to begin with. It's been ages since we got a new GC rank that yielded more than a couple glamour items. Leveling up to 50, GC gear is pretty competitive, and much of it is useful for several levels. You keep the company seals, but you can't use them until you switch back.

Best advice would be to just keep playing the game normally and worry about your Grand Company rank later, the benefits of higher GC rank only really come when you start to level crafters/gatherers and additional combat jobs. For your first run through the MSQ there's very little point to ranking up in your GC.
