That mainspring screw has been in and out of that SAA several times and by someone who probably didn't have SAA screwdrivers or bits. We have three SAA, a late 2nd Gen, an early 3rd Gen and a 1990 3rd Gen all have the full width mainspring.

A 1979 SAA would be 3rd Generation. I think plain smooth Walnut stocks would be correct for that vintage. Sometime in the mid to late 1980s I think Colt started using walnut stocks with gold or silver medallions. I have two 3rd Generation 4 3/4" SAAs with Nickel finish.
