Level magic, constitution and courage and when you get to the DLC farm the female boss who has the switch glaive and get the ability arc of chaos. Imo SG and SS are the best weapons in the game along with fists.
1-susanno+izanagi 2-susanno+magatsuhi. These two are better than most because they also have good guardian spirits that work well with them (ho oh for izanagi and baku for magatsuhi). Ho-oh gives you %10 damage vs purified and %8 purify accumulation. Baku gives you %10 damage vs corrupted and %8 accumulation.The hyper armor/poise enemies, dying in 2 to 3 hits, running out of ki all the time, the annoying sniper/kite enemies,fighting cheese bosses like Shisenin Kosen (constantly running away using the charged Odachi thrust attack to beat him) etc. It all adds up and dampens my opinion of the game.Splitstaff- Tough To Learn & Even Tougher To Master. One of the most unique weapons in the entirety of Nioh 2, the Splitstaff has both the range of the Spear and the combo potential of the Tonfas. Then you might have an axe, fist weapons, or tonfas or such if you wanted a weapon to break through blocking humans easier. The damage scaling tends to be on the smaller side on the first playthrough. It's there, but still on the smaller side.
Some skills can deal 5k+ damage lol. For humans, some good skills to use are Spinning crab, Eagle and Raging Wolf. If you got secret skill from Shibata even better. If you encounter Saito with hatchets, well… pray 😄. He literally nullifies 99% of your weapons skills and turns them against you.
