Duramax p0090.
Nov 5, 2013 · 188 posts · Joined 2012. #1 · Nov 5, 2013. Hey guys-. So yesterday the Duramax was totally dead. I kept getting code U0105, and the ECU fuse would blow every time I would turn the key. Cranks, no start. I isolated it to the wiring harness, and sure enough there was a spot where a metal bracket had worn through the wiring harness.
According to the Service manual it says: Circuit Description: The ECM monitors the condition of the ignition relay control circuit. If the ECM senses excessive voltage on this curcuit DTC P0612 will set. Conditions for running DTC: Ignition is ON. I’m showing 25k-29k psi on fuel rail. I’m also only getting 2.5v-3v at the fpr plug. I’ve read it’s suppose to be 5v. any input is welcome. Thank you.

P0089 and P0090 FOUND IT!! The connector to the fuel rail regulator had a wire pushed out!!! The way it works is the computer LOWERS the fuel pressure. So an open circuit doesnt signal the solenoid to lower the fuel pressure. pressure was maxed out, over 20000 mpa. ran like crap. made funny metalic noise too.Changed fuel filter on Sunday last week and #6 glow plug. Had some water from bad diesel at caseys. It was throwing a p0087 before I changed filter. Now it's constantly throwing P0088!!! What I would do is check the wiring from the coolant sensor all the way back to the main harness. Use a multimeter and verify you have continuity from the connector at the sensor all the way back to the main bail connector that sits above the hardline coolant hose (the one that connects to your thermostat housing).Got everything back together and it's in limp mode. Fires up without an issue. Idles a little rough. I pull the codes, i only have p0090 for fuel regulator up pressure solenoid. So i started looking for wiring. I tried pulling the plug just to see if I noticed anything different and I ended up with p0090 and the high fuel rail pressure code which I think was p0088. I did end up replacing one of the small rubber fuel hoses during install and used the same procedures i as would changing a fuel filter.P0090 Check engine code. This is also something that is not very common on these Duramax engines but it happens more often than an ECM issue. The most common problem on the Duramax is the EGR. That and head gasket issues. As far as electrical issues, this is really the only other one I know of. Truck will intermittently not start when temp is below 35 degrees. The only code is p0090. I clear the code and it starts up immediately.According to DTC P0090 the ECM Sources Battery Voltage through the ECM to the FPR. Step 7 is a test for this.
